MEMORIAL TABLET

A bronze memorial tablet to the Harvard men who died in the Spanish war will be unveiled in the Harvard union on Memorial day, May 30.  The tablet is to be placed directly over the main door leading into the large living room, replacing a temporary bronze ornament now in that position.  The commanding figure of the tablet will be a large eagle in relief.  Under the outstretched wings will be inscribed the names of the eleven men who gave their lives in the service of their country.  The names will appear in the following order: Oliver B. Henshaw, '93; Philip A. Crapo, L. '95; Stanley Hollister, '97; William A. Sanders, '97; William A. Talcott, Jr., L. '97; James T. Furness, '98; Nathaniel B. Adsit, '00; Ralph W. Lahmann, '00; and Sherman Hoar, '82.  The tablet has been designed and executed by the sculptor, Bela Pratt.  The exercises will be arranged somewhat in connection with those annually held in Sanders theatre on Memorial day.  The university will be closed in all its departments for the day.
