On Jun 5 1917 Rue Hinshaw, age 25, registered for the World War I draft in Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana.  He declared he was born Dec 26 1891 in Carmel, and was then still residing in Carmel where he was single and self-employed in "general repairing".  He claimed an exemption due to "Friends Church".  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, light brown eyes, light brown hair.10  

He married Vina Saleen George, Mar 23 1918, Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,5  Vina, daughter of Edward George & Eunice Dunn, was born Apr 4 1891, Atlanta, Indiana.1,2,11  

Rue and Vina were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 1920), Carmel, Clay Township, Hamilton County, Indiana:11

Hinshaw, Rue, head-of-household, age 28, born in "N.S."; parents born in Indiana; rented home; occupation: garage [..unclear..].
Hinshaw, Vina, wife, age 28, born in Indiana; parents born in Indiana; occupation: teacher, public school.
Living next door in 1920 was the family of cousin Ella Josephine Hinshaw.12  

Rue and family were again shown in the 1930 census (Apr 8 1930), Main Street South, Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana:2

Hinshaw, Philip, son, age 4 years 4 months, born in Indiana; parents born in Indiana.
George, Bessie, sister-in-law, age 32, born in Indiana; parents born in Indiana; single; occupation: none.
George, Elsie, sister-in-law, age 27, born in Indiana; parents born in Indiana; single; occupation: teacher, public school.

Vina died Apr 2 1947, Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana; buried Carmel Cemetery, Carmel, Indiana.1  

He then married Ellen Higgins, Nov - 1948, Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana.1  Ellen, daughter of Joseph Higgins & Sarah Wentworth.1  

Ellen had been previously married to Hal Purdy and had a son, Donald.1  

Ellen died 1961, Carmel, California.1  [this should probably actually be Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana].  

In 1968 Rue was living in Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana.9  

Robert Rue Hinshaw died Feb 24 1968, Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana; buried Carmel Cemetery, Carmel, Indiana.1,9
