Roby was shown in the 1910 census (May 5 1910), living and working as a hired man in the household of his aunt Lydia (Hinshaw) Millikan in Adams Township, Hamilton County, Indiana:7

On Jun 5 1917 Robie Talmage Hinshaw, age 29, registered for the World War I draft at Level Cross, Randolph County, North Carolina.  He declared he was born July 29 1887 in Randleman, North Carolina, was single, and a self-employed farmer in Randolph County, North Carolina.  He was recorded as medium height, slender, dark brown eyes, black hair.5  

Roby was shown in the 1930 census (Apr 2 1930), living with the family of brother Lester in Tabernacle Township, Randolph County, North Carolina:2

Roby's death was noted in the "High Point Enterprise" (High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina) on Thursday, January 25, 1968 (page 10B):9

RANDLEMAN - Robey T. Hinshaw, 80, of Rt. 2, died Wednesday in Randolph Hospital.  There are no immediate survivors.  Funeral plans are incomplete.  The body is at Pugh Funeral Home.

Roby is buried next to first cousin William Clarkson Hinshaw.6
