Charles Wesley Hanshaw1,2,3 [Wesley C. Hanshaw4].
Born Sep 24 1886, Van Buren County, Iowa.1,2,3,4
Charles Wesley Hanshaw died Apr 5 19071,3 [Apr 3 19071], Billings, Yellowstone County, Montana1,3; buried Heidlebaugh Cemetery, Davis County, Iowa (near Douds, Van Buren County, Iowa)1,3.
Charles' obituary was published as follows:3
Charles Wesley Hanshaw was born in Chequest Tp., Van Buren county, Iowa, Sept. 24, 1886, and died at St. Vincent hospital, Billings, Montana, April 5, 1907, aged 20 years, 6 month [sic] and 11 days. He was the only son of C. R. and Laura Hanshaw of Chequest Tp., Van Buren county. He was converted to Christ in the Free Methodist church 7 years ago. Since that time he has been a true follower of Christ. Everywhere he went he was sowing seed for the Master. The deceased had been in poor health for three years and last Sept. went to Montana for his health. He seemingly got along well until he was taken down with the measles, followed by pneumonia, which caused his death. He leaves a father and four sisters, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death. His mother preceded him to the better world 18 years ago to the day. He was loved by all who knew him. A few moments before he was called he sang "Sweet bye and bye" and quoted Rev. 14:13. Psalms 23: 1.57:1. He requested to see his father and sisters and said he was ready to die and wanted all to meet him in heaven, to which place he said he was going. A short time before he died he wrote the following:
Farewell, farewell alas farewell
To those we love so dear,
in heaven above, we'll meet again,
This thought my hearth doth cheer.
