Mary Ann's obituary was published in the "Clinton Herald" (Clinton, Iowa) on Tuesday, June 29, 2004:1

PARK RAPIDS, Minn. - Mary Ann Knudson, 51, of Park Rapids, died Saturday.  

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Dennis Wieland and the Rev. Kevin Schwartz officiating.  Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Park Rapids.  Military honors will be provided by the All Veterans Memorial Burial Team.  Following the services, a luncheon reception will be hosted by the women of St. Peter's Catholic Church.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.  A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday with the Knights of Columbus leading the rosary at 7:30 p.m.  

Pallbearers will be members of the St. Peter's Knights of Columbus, Rick Henshaw, Kevin Richmond Sr., Henry Knudson, Brian Spiegel, Kevin Richmond Jr., and Mike Henshaw.  

She was born Nov. 9, 1952, in Oelwein to Richard and Shirley Gaul Henshaw.  On Jan. 8, 1983, she married Andrew R. Knudson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.  They made their home at numerous military bases where her husband served including: Fort Huachuca, Ariz., Fort Ord, Calif., Mannheim, Germany, and Fort McClellan, Ala.  Upon, [sic] her husband's honorable discharge from the United States Army, they moved to northern Minnesota where they settled in Menahga, Minn., until 2002 when they moved to Park Rapids.  

She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1971.  

She entered the United States Army in 1977 where she served as a member of the 57th Military Police Company in West Point, N.Y.  After her honorable discharge in 1980, she went on to attend Palomar College in San Marcos, Calif., where she graduated with an associate's degree in parks and recreation management in 1982.  

She was employed with the San Diego Wild Animal Park in San Marcos from 1980 to 1983.  She was employed with J & B Foods East where she worked in the deli department.  She also worked with the Bedoura Nursery.  

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Park Rapids where she was active with many parish activities.  She also was involved with the Arago Homemakers Club of Two Inlets, Minn.  

Survivors include her husband; parents, Richard and Shirley Henshaw of Park Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Bonnie (Jerry) Spiegel of Peosta, Betty Henshaw of Park Rapids and Mrs. Jane (Kevin) Richmond of Park Rapids; one brother, Rick (Alice) Henshaw of Maquoketa; 11 nieces and nephews; three great-nieces and nephews; her mother-in-law, Lilo Knudson of Norway, Maine; one brother-in-law, Henry W. Knudson of Norway, Maine; and many other relatives.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Joseph's Area Hospice.  

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
