On Sep 18 19425 (Oct 2 1942)8 Lafollette W. Henshaw, born 1920 in Alabama, enlisted at Fort McClellan, Alabama as a private in the U.S. Army.  He declared he had a grammar school education, was single, without dependents, occupation: geographer.  He was recorded as 66" tall, 151 lbs.5  Discharged Dec 9 1945.8  

He married Lillie Louise Howard.4  Lillie, daughter of James Pearl Howard & Sarah Lillie Gass, was born Apr 11 1932.2,4,7  

Lafollette and Louise were shown in the 1955 city directory of Chattanooga, Tennessee:9

In 1989 Lafollotte was living in/near Rossville, Walker County, Georgia.2,10  

LaFollette W. Henshaw died Dec 18 1989, Georgia; age 69.2,7,8,10  Death certificate #901223, filed Dec 28 1989.10  

Lillie died Apr 12 2010, Marion County, Tennessee; age 78.2,4,7  

Lillie's obituary was published in the "Chattanooga Times Free Press" (Chattanooga, Tennessee) on April 14, 2010:4

Lillie Louise Henshaw, 78, died on Monday, April 12, 2010, following a long battle with cancer.  

She was of the Baptist faith.  

She especially enjoyed visits with her family and friends and long conversations on the telephone.  She had a gift for gardening and was known for her love of flowers.  She was referred to by most as Aunt Lou.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillie Howard; her husband of 40 years, Lafollette Henshaw; and daughter, Linda Henshaw Patterson.  She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Maggie Reeves, Johnny Howard, Lena Bryant, William Howard, Edith Higdon, Frank Howard, Ruth Gass, Jake Howard, Geneva Goforth and Alleen Collins.  

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Randy) Chesnut, of Ringgold; grandsons, Chuck Harbison, of Chattanooga and Joey (Jacquelyn) Chesnutt, of Ringgold; granddaughter, Darla (Jason) Crawford, of Ringgold; two great-grandchildren, Charles and Makayla Harbison; sister, Dottie Forsythe and many beloved nieces and nephews.  

Much appreciation is extended to the family members who showed such love and compassionate care and support throughout her illness.  

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, in the chapel at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe with Randy Chesnutt officiating.  

Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in South Pittsburg, Tn.  

The family will receive friends from 2 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, and prior to the service on April 15 at the funeral home.  

Arrangements are by W. L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
