Also living in Frederick County, Virginia in 1830 (apparently next-door) was the family of Nicholas Hanshier.7  Also living nearby were the families of a William Hansher, a Thomas Hansher, a John Hansher, and a John Hanshaw.7

Also living in Hancock County, Indiana in 1840 (apparently next-door) was the family of Nicholas Hanshier.6  

Abner and family were shown in the 1850 census (Sep 12 1850), Centre Township, Hancock County, Indiana:1

Abner Hanshire, age 46, born in Virginia; farmer.
Ann E. Hanshire, age 19, born in Virginia.
Joseph Hanshire, age 18, born in Virginia; farmer.
William Hanshire, age 15, born in Illinois; farmer.
Mary Hanshire, age 11, born in Indiana.
Mary Hanshire, age 82, born in Pennsylvania.
Note that wife Sarah was not shown in the 1850 census, so it might be reasonable to conclude that she had probably died before then.8  

He then married Mary Ann Donahue.3
