A.J.'s obituary was published in the "Columbus Dispatch" (Columbus, Ohio) on January 13, 2005:2
A.J. Henshaw, age 76, Saturday January 8, 2005 at home. Seventh degree black belt, Karate instructor, and a "SOKE" (founder of street survival). A native of Bronx, NY, he was a professional boxer, who trained and fought at the Bobby Gleasons Gym in the Bronx. A.J. served in three wars, earning Bronze Stars, commendation medals, Presidential citations and 37 ribbons. He served two tours in Viet Nam on crash crew rescue, he also was deputy fire chief at Westover. He retired as Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force after 25 years of service. After retirement he served as a correctional officer at Orient Correctional Facility. Survived by sisters, Joan Henshaw and Louise Nottage; daughter, Doli Henshaw; nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, and a large extended family of devoted friends. Visitations Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 South High Street. Wake service/Rosary 3:30 p.m. Friday. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, 5225 Refugee Rd. Burial Arlington National Cemetery, Friday January 21, 2005 at 2 p.m.
