Born about 1858, North Carolina.1
Note: Mary and Columbus Hinshaw were probably the same person. Shown clearly as Mary Hinshaw, female, age 2 in the 1860 census,1 yet Mary disappeared from the family in later censuses, replaced by Columbus, male, age 12 in the 1870 census,2 and Columbus, male, age 21 in the 1880 census.3 This appears to have been an error in enumerating the 1860 census, but it cannot be confirmed with certainty.
