On Jun 5 1917 Samuel Rollen Handshaw, age 22, registered for the World War I draft in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He declared he was born Aug 24 1894 in Harrisburg, and was then residing at 233 S. 15th, Harrisburg where he was single and employed as a driver. He had previous military experience as a private in the infantry. He was recorded as tall, medium build, blue eyes, dark brown hair.2
