Kenneth Hinshaw, 81
MONON -- Kenneth "Wayne" Hinshaw, 81, of 407 N. Arch St., died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer. He had been in failing health for two months.
Born March 8, 1925, in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Richard Vernon and Mary Ethel Calvin Hinshaw. He had resided in Buffalo before moving to Monon 35 years ago.
He was a veteran, serving in the Army as a medic from 1943 to 1950. He served with the 18th Infantry Division in Germany.
His marriage was to Ida Mabel Lamport on Nov. 23, 1968, in Monon, and she survives.
Mr. Hinshaw worked for the Indiana State Highway Department for several years and retired from the White County Highway Department after 20 years of service.
He was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church and a former member of the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving with his wife are three children, Rita Adkins (husband: Tom) of Monon, Shirley Marquess Applegate (husband: Jim) of Buffalo and Kenneth Hinshaw (wife: Sherri) of Marion; and a sister, Beverly Jean Baker (husband: Don) of Buffalo.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, Terri Neff and Bev Lucas; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a niece, Donna Blackman.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with service there 11 a.m. Thursday, Pastor Don Newman officiating. Interment with full military rites at Monon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
