Born 18001,2,7, Tennessee1,2,7 [North Carolina4].  

He married Dorcas -, about 1818.1  Dorcas was born about 1800.1  

Dorcas died about 1835.1  

In 1835 Jesse Hindshaw [sic] was shown in a Delinquint Tax List in Barry County, Missouri.8  

He then married Nancy Miller, Dec 26 1836, Van Buren (now Cass) County, Missouri.1,9,10,11,12,13  Nancy was born 1820, Kentucky.1,2,4  

There is some folklore that Nancy Miller was half Choctaw Indian, but there are no facts in support of this folklore.14  Some believe Nancy was the daughter of Joseph Miller & Margaret Hamilton.15  Another belief is that she might have been the daughter of a Jacob Miller.15  

In 1836 Jesse Hinshaw was shown in a list of Grand Jury members in Cass County, Missouri.16  

Jesse and family moved to Texas sometime before 1846.  In the Republic of Texas Poll List of 1846, Jesse Henshaw was shown living in Henderson County, Texas.17  There was also a J. Hinshaw shown living in Hunt County, Texas.17  

Jesse and family were shown in the 1850 census (Oct 21 1850), Smith County, Texas:2,18

"Jess Henshaw" was again shown in the 1870 census, Aiken Precinct 1, Bell County, Texas.  Living with Jesse and family was their son-in-law and children of their recently deceased daughter Amanda:7,19

John Henshaw, age 20, born in Texas; farm laborer.

Pennina J. Cofer, age 13, born in Texas.

Jesse Hinshaw died about 1875, near Belton, Bell County, Texas.1  

The widow "Nancy Hinshaw" was shown in the 1880 census (Jun 1 1880), Llano County, Texas, living in the household of her daughter Jessie Emeline Walker:20,21

Walker, Joel M., age 29, born in Texas; parents born in Tennessee; farmer.
Walker, Emeline, wife. age 23, born in Texas; parents born in Tennessee; keeping house; cannot read or write.
Walker, John H., son. age 3, born in Texas; parents born in Texas.
Walker, James J., son. age 11 months, born Jul 1880 in Texas; parents born in Texas.
Hinshaw, Nancy, mother, age 60, born in Kentucky; parents born in Texas; widow.
Living next door was daughter Marthana Masters and family.20,22  Living nearby was son George.23  

Nancy died 1884, Llano County, Texas.1,14
