Peter Cook Henshaw, 94, of Glen Allen, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2003. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Elsie Davenport Henshaw; a daughter, Shirley Henshaw Layell; son-in-law, Leland E. Layell Jr.; four grandchildren, Michael E. Layell of Yorktown, Teddy E. Layell and his wife, Donna of Aylett, Lisa L. Amsden of Richmond, and Mark O. Layell and his wife, Kim of Richmond; a devoted ex-daughter-in-law, Anne M. Layell; a sister, Margaret Lowry of Richmond; six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Henshaw was a member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World, and was retired from Bruce's Auto Parts. Remains rest at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville.

Elsie Davenport Henshaw, 96, of Glen Allen, went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Peter C. Henshaw. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Estelle Chenault Davenport. She is survived by her loving daughter, Shirley H. Layell and her husband, Leland Jr. She had four grandchildren, Michael Layell, Teddy Layell and his wife, Donna, Lisa Vellines and her husband, Bob, and Mark Layell and his wife, Kim. She also had nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a devoted ex-granddaughter-in-law, Anna Layell, and a host of nieces and nephews, two devoted, Mason Duke and Rawling G. Davenport.
She was a member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church and in later years a faithful viewer of First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday with interment to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
