Born Jun 21 1853.1 Christened Sep 18 1853, Gorbals, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1
On Aug 12 1905 Mathew C. Hinshaw arrived at the Port of New York (Ellis Island) on the S.S. Etruria, having sailed from Liverpool on Aug 5 1905. He declared he was 51 years old, single, "Scotch", and a citizen of Great Britain. His last permanent residence, as well as his final destination, was Montreal. He declared he had previously been to the U.S., New York, in 1905. He was recorded as "In transit to Ontario, Canada".2
