Helen graduated with the Class of 1944, Welch High School, Welch, McDowell County, West Virginia.3  

She married Vincent E. Walker.2  Vincent, son of Robert + Virgie Walker, was born May 28 1923, West Virginia.4,5,6  

Vincent was a World War II veteran.  On May 19 1943 Vincent E. Walker, born 1923 in West Virginia, enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia as a private in the U.S. Army.  He declared he had a grammar school education, and was single, with dependents.7  

Helen J. Hanshew died Jun 6 1986, Charlottesville, Virginia.2,4  

Helen's obituary was published as follows:2

HELEN HANSHAW WALKER died June 6, 1986, in a Charlottesville, VA medical center after a long illness.  Born January 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late David D. and Myrtle Richardson Hanshaw.  She was a McDowell County resident for most of her life.  She was a member of Roderfield United Methodist Church where she served as superintendent of the Sunday School, teacher for the Primary class, member of the choir, and a lay speaker.  Survivors include her husband, Vincent E. Walker; 3 daughters, Jacqueline Hatmaker, Virginia Lockhart, and Nancy M. Walker; a brother, Melvin R. Hanshaw; a half-sister, Lucille Taylor and 3 grandchildren.

Vincent died Feb 11 2000.4
