Miss Dorothy Hinshaw was the very surprised guest of honor at a miscellaneous bridal shower given last Friday night by Miss Lilah Goebert of Arlington Heights.  Miss Hinshaw will be the bride of Laverne Gieseke August 19.  16 guests enjoyed the evening with her.

She married Laverne John Gieseke, Aug 19 1950, Trinity Lutheran Church, Roselle, DuPage County, Illinois.3,4,5,6,7  Laverne, son of Edwin F. Gieseke, was born Dec 2 1929, Roselle, DuPage County, Illinois.6,7,8,9

Miss Dorothy Hinshaw and LaVern Gieseke were united in holy wedlock at a beautiful candlelight double ring ceremony last Saturday evening, 7 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran church, Roselle.  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Hinshaw and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gieseke, all of Roselle.  

Rev. W. Mehlberg officiated at the wedding.  Mrs. Howard Turner sang "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord's Prayer" accompanied by Mr. Binneboeso, organist.  

The bride wore a gown of white satin with lace insets, long train and French imported fingertip veil with lilies of the valley.  Her pearl necklace was a gift of the groom and she carried a bouquet of white roses.  

Miss Martha Hinshaw, the bride's suster, maid of honor, wore yellow organdy over taffeta with fitted bodice and picture hat of same material as dress.  Her bouquet was of mixed garden flowers.  Miss Muriel Pantke and Miss Jane Harmening, friends of the bride, and Lilah Goebbert, cousin of the groom, were bridesmaids.  They were dressed like the maid of honor in pale green, pink and pale blue.  

Betty Walters, cousin of the groom, was flower girl dressed in lavendar.  

Wayne Gieseke, brother of the groom, was best man.  Ushers were Elwood Huenerberg, Jim Clark, and Jim Goebbert.  

The bride's mother was attired in pink embroidered chiffon with a corsage of white and pink roses.  The groom's mother had a lime colored sheer with a white and yellow rose corsage.  

A reception for 375 guests was held at Labor temple, Elgin.  The buffet supper was served by Trinity Ladies aid.  

The young couple are honey-mooning for a week at Eagle River, Wis.  Upon their return they will live in their new home at 158 W. Hattendorf ave., Roselle.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gieseke became grandparents for the first time when their son, Laverne and wife welcomed their first child August 28.  The baby boy, John Allen weighed 5 pounds 11 ounces.  He was born at Michael Reese hospital in Chicago, Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hinshaw of Elmhurst.

Mrs. Laverne Gieseke and sons, John, David and Kenneth, returned Saturday from Fishkill, N. Y., where they spent ten days with her sister and brother-in-law, the Clarks.  Mrs. Gieseke's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hinshaw of Lombard, also made the trip.

Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Gieseke entertained 12 guests Sunday at the E. Pine Street home in honor of their son, Kenneth's, third birthday.

Michael Scott Gieseke makes it a quartet of sons for Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Gieseke, 205 E. Pine, Roselle.  Michael was born Oct. 16 in Memorial Hospital and weighed 6 pounds 5 ounces.  The other Gieseke sons are John, 11, David, 9, and Kenneth, 5 1/2.  Grandparents of the boys are Edwin Gieseke of Roselle and the L. S. Hinshaws of Franklin Park.  Great-grandparents are the August Busses of Mount Prospect.

Laverne died Oct 7 1992, Hoffman Estates, Illinois; buried Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, 125 West Irving Park Rd., Roselle, DuPage County, Illinois.7,8,9
