He married Hannah M. Bragg3,4,5 [Hannah M. Dyche6,7], Dec 26 19113,4,5, Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia3,4,5.  Hannah, daughter of Robert James Dyche & Ella J. Bowling, was born Apr - 1883, Augusta County, Virginia.4,6,7  

Hannah had been previously married, sometime between 1900 and 1910, to a -- Bragg, then widowed.6,7  Note that John's brother William David Hanshaw married Hannah's sister, Vivian Milans Dyche, and John's sister Emma Jane Hanshaw married Hannah's brother, Charles William Dyche,

On Sep 12 1918 John Benjamine Hanshaw, age 33, registered for the World War I draft in Logan County, West Virginia.  He declared he was born April 8 1885, and was then residing in Manbar, Logan County, West Virginia, employed as a mine worker for the Logan Mining Co. of Manbar.  He declared his nearest relative was his wife, Mrs. Hanna Hanshaw of Manbar.  He was recorded as medium height, slender, blue eyes, light hair.  He signed the draft registration card as "Ben Hanshaw".3
