On Jun 5 1917 Leonard T. Hanshaw, age 27, registered for the World War I draft in Huntington, West Virginia. He declared he was born Nov. 25th 1889 in Putnam County, West Virginia, and was then residing at 825 26th St., Huntington, West Virginia, with a wife and three children, occupied as a foreman employed by the C & O R.R. Co. of Huntington. He claimed an exemption due to "none, except sole support of family". He was recorded as medium height (5' 4"), medium build, brown eyes, black hair.3
