BURLINGTON - Mrs. Frances Hinshaw Thompson, 90, of 2104 Woodland Ave., passed away peacefully while sleeping at her residence on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 6 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Julian W. Thompson and the daughter of Talmadge Hinshaw and Mae Garrett Hinshaw, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington.
Frances was a woman of class, no matter if it was a quick run to the bank, a trip to Wendy's, or gardening, she was dressed to the nines. If you ever saw her without red lipstick, then consider yourself a lucky person. She loved her family and they loved her back. Frances also never knew a stranger. She was known for her kindness and treated everyone with respect.
Survivors include her daughter, Ms. Julia Thompson of Destin, Fla.; son, Mr. Craig T. Thompson and wife Pamela of Burlington; sister, Mrs. Ruth H. Jones of Burlington; six grandchildren, Jowell Thome, Julian Thome, Alison Thome, Natalie Thompson, Sophie Thompson and Evan Thompson; one great-granddaughter, Tove Thome; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, July 21, 2014, at 3 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
The family would like to thank the women who treated her with so much respect and made her final months that much easier. Loranda Minor, Wanda Clegg, Jeralynn Nichols, Sheila Worth and Darlene Koons-Culberson became and remain such a wonderful part of our family.
