PALATAS, Sarah E. age 88, of Kettering, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009. She was born June 21, 1920 in Dayton, OH, the daughter of Frances (Briden) and Claude Hinshaw. She was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Her working career was diverse working as a bookkeeper at WPAFB and retired from Weber Geiger and Kalat at age 72. She was an avid mystery reader and world traveler. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Palatas and her beloved cats, Smokey and Oakey; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Palatas; both parents; sisters, Olive Hinshaw and Pearle Santillo; brothers, Cecil and Hoyle Hinshaw. Special thanks and much love to the Gillespie family, Pat, Gary, Nancy, Scott, Paula, and Rhonda, Jan and Al Scheckelhoff, and Charlie (miss you) and Pat Talbot. Visitation will be held Monday, March 16, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel where the funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
