He was recorded as medium height, slender, blue eyes, light brown hair.10

SWEPSONVILLE -- Julius Arthur Lankford, 69, of Swepsonville died last night at 6:25 o'clock in a Durham hospital after two weeks of critical illness. He had been in failing health for 10 years.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Eula Hinshaw Lankford, who survives, and was the son of the late J. J. Lankford and Mrs. Callie Crawford Lankford. He was a member of Swepsonville Methodist Church, a veteran of the World War I, serving overseas and receiving the Distinguished Service Cross for bravery in action, and was a member of the Patriotic Sons of America.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Lawrence B. Lankford and Arthur J. Lankford of Swepsonville and W. N. (Jack) Lankford of Burlington; one brother, Carson Lankford of Mebane; six sisters, Mrs. John Wood of Mebane, Mrs. Della Truitt of Burlington, Mrs. Lacy Clark of Swepsonville, Mrs. Raymond Davis of Route 2, Graham, Mrs. George Winfrey of Burlington, and Mrs. T. S. Thompson of York, Pa.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Swepsonville Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. Rufus H. Stark. Burial will be in Phillips Methodist Church cemetery.
The body will remain at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham until removed to the home Saturday morning at 9 o'clock and will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
