At Richland MM on 2-6-1886, Alvin was granted a certificate to Mt. Ayr MM, Kansas.5  

He married Mary "Molly" Clayton, about 1890.1  Mary was born Jul 20 1866.7  

Mary died Jun 21 1892, probably Barrett, Marshall County, Kansas; age 25.1,7  Mary died just 26 days after the birth of daughter Letty May.1,7  

He then married Clara Ann Haskin1 [Cora Hoskins4,5].  Clara was born about 1878, Illinois.4  

Alvin and family were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 12-13 1920), Smith County, Kansas:4

Hinshaw, Alvin T., head-of-household, age 62, born in Iowa; father born in Tennessee; mother born in Indiana; owned home; farmer.
Hinshaw, Cora, wife, age 42, born in Illinois; parents born in United States.
Hinshaw, Chester F., son, age 19, born in Kansas; father born in Iowa; mother born in Illinois.

Clara died before 1930.8  

Widower Alvin was shown in the 1930 census (Apr 9 1930), living in the household of daughter Lurena in Larned, Pawnee County, Kansas:8

Hinshaw, A.T., father-in-law, age 73, born in Iowa; father born in Tennessee; mother born in Indiana; widower; occupation: none.

Alvin T. Hinshaw died May 14 1930, Smith County, Kansas.1
