Born May 23 1913, Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana.1,4,5,6  

Note that Warren's uncle (his mother Lydia's older brother) was named John Vance Hinshaw.1  

Warren graduated with an M.D. from the University of Indiana; residency in Mobile, Alabama.  He was a physician and surgeon, practicing in Adrian, Michigan 1947-1961; privileges at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian.7  

He married Gwendolyn Durman, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.1,8  Gwendolyn, daughter of Elmer Fred Durman & Nellie Ratcliff Allee, was born Jan 11 1911, Bloomington, Parke County, Indiana.1,2,8,9,10,11  

Warren was shown in the 1940 census (Apr 26 1940), Charity Hospital, New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana:12

Henshaw, Warren, intern, age 27, born in Indiana; completed 5 years of college; on Apr 1 1935 was living in Winchester, Indiana; married; occupation: general doctor, hospital; worked 26 weeks in 1939; $180 wages in 1939, plus other income.

During World War II Warren volunteered, in 1941, as an Army medical doctor with the 8th Army Air Corps.  He attained the rank of captain and was stationed in England.7  

Warren was a certified private pilot.7

Warren Vance Hinshaw died Nov 1 1978, Marathon, Monroe County, Florida; buried Nov 7 1978, Southern Keys Cemetery, Big Coppitt Key, Monroe County, Florida.1,4,5,7,8  

Gwendolyn died Apr 24 2006, Waterford, Oakland County, Michigan; age 95.8,11  

Gwendolyn's obituary was published as follows:11

Gwendolyn (Durman) Hinshaw of Marathon Shores, Florida, Age 95, was called home April 24, 2006 in Waterford Michigan.  Gwendolyn was born January 11, 1911 in Bloomingdale, Indiana to Elmer Fred Durman and Nellie Ratcliff Allee.  Gwen graduated with a degree in Nursing from University of Indiana and took a position at the University of Indiana hospital.  During this time, before interstate highways, she traveled with friends extensively throughout the United States.  Traveling was a pursuit that she would enjoy throughout her life.  

After Gwen married Dr. Warren Vance Hinshaw of Adrian Michigan.  They moved to New Orleans while Dr. Hinshaw completed his residency and Gwen took a position as a nurse in Obstetrics at University Hospital in New Orleans.  Just after Warren completed military service in WWII the couple established a medical practice in Adrian Michigan.  In 1961 they retired to the Key Colony Beach and later moved to Marathon Shores Florida.  After Warren Hinshaw’s death in 1978 Gwen remained in the Florida Keys but traveled extensively and took summers in Northern Canada and near Franklin, North Carolina.  

Along with loving travel Gwen enjoying hunting and fishing in the wilds of northern Michigan and Canada.  Later on she became an accomplished artist in needlepoint, cross stitch and rug making.  She was an astute investor and had a keen eye for real estate.  She was greatly interested in progress of the family and kept track of everyone even in her final hours.  

She is survived by her daughter Gwendolyn Sue Hardy, son-in-law Donald O. Hardy of Waterford, Michigan, grandsons Michael Brian Hardy of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Daniel Blaine Hardy of Waterford, Michigan.  Great-grandsons Evan, Ethan and Ian Hardy of Sterling Heights, Michigan.  Beyond her immediate bonds she had extended family and friends that cared for her deeply.  She will be greatly missed.  

She will be interred at the Southern Keys Cemetery, Big Coppitt Key, Monroe County, Florida.
