On Mar 13 1855, at the Court of Common Pleas for the city and county of New York, John Hanneschiedt declared his intention to become a U.S. citizen.4 On Oct 19 1858, at the Superior Court of New York County, New York, John Hanneschiedt renounced allegiance to the Grand Duke of Hesse, and swore to support the Constitution to become a naturalized U.S. citizen.4,7 His then recorded address was 47th St. & 8th Ave. The witness was a Phillip Schmidt of 211 39th St., New York City.7

3d. I give and devis to my husband John Henneschiedt two certain pieces of Real Estate owned by me the one situate in the Town of Mount Pleasant and in the Village of North Tarrytown on the Northeast corner of Cortland street and Collage Avenue and now occupied by Richard Howard and other tenants and the other situate in the Village and town last aforesaid on the east side of Valley Street being lot numbered Eleven (11) on map of property late belonging to Gen. Henry Storms, declared and by him sold to me and also all or any other real estate or property which I may now have or wherein I may be interested to have, hold, possess and enjoy during his natural life and I hereby empower him my said husband to rent or grant leases of my said real estate upon consideration that the interest and possession of the tenants thereunder shall cease and determine at or before the death of my said husband Hereby giving him full power to collect receive appropriate and dispose of as he may desire all the rents, profits and uncime arising from said real estate during his said life. 4 At the death of my said husband John Henneschiedt I give and devise all the aforesaid land premises and real estate unto my four daughters, Catharine, Amelia, Lydia and Estella to be theirs absolutely in fee simple share and share alike.
5th. After the payment of the aforesaid debts and expenses I give and bequeath to my four daughters Catharine, Amelia, Lydia and Estella all my clothing and jewels also all my other personal property of whatsoever name or nature to be theirs absolutely share and share alike.

On Dec 3 1904, at the Surrogate Court of Westchester County, New York, the last Will and Testament of "Johanna Hennescheidt of the Village of North Tarrytown in the County of Westchester and State of New York", was proved.11 In her will, dated Jul 6 1896, Johanna, age "about 69 years", bequeathed $1000 to her brother Alois Reichherzer of Gerslingen, Wurtenberg, Germany, and $1000 to her brother Anton Reichhezer of Lainnger, Bavaria, Germany.11 Her will was witnessed and affirmed by a George Henshaw.11
John was probably closely related to (perhaps a brother of) Henry Hinneschiedt.13
In John's second marriage record (to Johanna) he declared his parents were Jacob Henneschiedt & Appelona [Appollonia/Apollonia] Schmidt.5,12
