Not long after 1900, William left Mary taking his five children Carrie, Eva, Etta, Harry and Ed to Tulsa, Oklahoma. They travelled with two teams of horses pulling a covered wagon. It was the fall of the year and the weather was cold. They stopped every evening and built a campfire to cook their meal and camped for the night. The trip took a month.1
On arriving in Oklahoma, William worked his two teams of horses in the early oil fields and hauled coal with them.1
Mary was ill at the time William left, and she then went to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Tilde and Charlie Phillips. Later she married William Henry Harrison Cook, Apr 24 1903.1,9,11
