ROANOKE - Richard L. Hinshaw, 70, of Roanoke, Ill., passed away at 3:26 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. He was born on May 14. 1944, in Pontiac, Ill., a son of Murrel Orville and Lula Alta Harris Hinshaw.
Surviving are three daughters, Candy (Thomas) Pyne of Lexington, Ill., Brenda (Thomas) Alexander of Roanoke, Ill., and Teri Jo (Jeff) Breuning of Bloomington, Ill.; one brother, Larry (Jan) Lock of Palatine, Ill.; one sister, Kay Moran of Pontiac, Ill.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
Richard was the co-owner of Hinshaw Cleaning Services. He worked at Orkin Pest Control as an area manager in Atlanta, Ga., for 12 years.
He was a member of the American Legion in Rutland, Masonic Temple in Pontiac, and the resident council at Maple Lawn Apartments.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed watching his son-in-law and grandsons race stock cars. He also liked to golf, bowl, and most of all spend time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 25, 2014, at the VFW in Pontiac, Ill. Private family inurnment services will be at Payne Cemetery in Chenoa, Ill., where military rites will be accorded at the grave.
Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke is assisting the family with their arrangements.
