Mary Hinshaw Boyd Henson, age 89, of Asheboro died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation in Asheboro.
Mrs. Henson was a native of Asheboro, growing up on a farm that was located just adjacent to Giles Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
She was formerly employed with Western Auto during the 1950's and later was employed with Laughlin Hosiery Mill, where she retired. Everyone who came in contact with her loved her and she loved them back by sharing her cakes, pies, and her famous recipes.
She is survived by her husband: James T. Henson; Sons: Jimmy Boyd, and his wife, Brenda, of Asheboro and Bill and his wife, Renee Boyd of Burlington, NC; Step daughter, Cheryl, and her husband, Larry Batchelor of Martinez, Georgia; Eight Grandchildren, and Eleven Great Grandchilden. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro, NC.
The funeral will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, the Rev. Tom Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Giles Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Giles Chapel United Methodist Church, 1627 Giles Chapel Rd., Asheboro, NC 27203 or the Alzheimers Association, Carolina Piedmont Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
