Kathryn M. Hinshaw died May 11 2007, at her home, 3205 Viney Lane, Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois; age 53.1,2  Medical: Kathryn died from cancer.3  

Kathryn's obituary was published in "The Pantagraph" (Bloomington, Illinois) on May 12, 2007:1

BLOOMINGTON - Kathryn M. Albee, 53, of 3205 Viney Lane, Bloomington, died at 8:15 a.m. Friday (May 11, 2007) at her home after a three-year illness.  

Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Epiphany Catholic Church, Normal, with Monsignor Eric Powell officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bloomington.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. and for one-half hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church.  

Memorials may be made to Friends of Kathy Albee Team American Cancer Society Relay for Life of McLean County, c/o Edie Lane, 1 Brickyard Drive, Bloomington, IL 61704.  

Kathy was born Aug. 21, 1953, daughter of George Weidinger and Rosalind Colby Hinshaw of Bloomington.  She married John L. Albee on Aug. 27, 1993.  He survives.  

Also surviving are five stepsons, John Allen (Susan) Albee; Dennis (Angie) Albee, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Jeff Albee; Mark (Terri) Albee, Temecula, Calif.; and Brandon Albee; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  

Kathy was raised by her grandparents, J. Deane and Kathryn Hinshaw, with the help of several aunts and uncles, from the age of 1, when her parents passed away.  Those aunts and uncles surviving are C. Deane (Ruth) Hinshaw; Kathryn (Gene) Kerber, Cooksville; Eldon (Jessie) Hinshaw; Lyle (Joyce) Hinshaw; and Carol (Bill) Dietz.  

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents; her sister, Janet; and additional aunts and uncles who helped to raise her.  She will be greatly missed by all her beloved family including several cousins and a niece, and by her extended family of many dear friends.  

Kathy graduated from Normal Community High School and attended Illinois State University.  She worked as office manager in the realty office of her husband.  

Kathy and her team received the 2006 Diamond Team Award as top fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of McLean County.  She also supported the Illinois Organ/Tissue Donor program.  

Kathy was active for many years in Charter Chapter of American Business Women's Association (ABWA) and was a past president.  She also served as a member of the Presidents' Council of ABWA.  

She was a strong supporter of the McLean County Humane Society, Doberman Rescue of Illinois and several other animal rescue and support organizations.  She loved animals, especially her dog and two cats.  

Kathy greatly appreciated the fine care and friendship of the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at the Community Cancer Center.  Kathy donated many blankets, caps and magazines to aid the comfort of her fellow patients there.  She also donated clothes and collected cell phones for donation to Neville House, and collected glasses for donation to the Lion's Club.  

Kathy loved life and loved to laugh.  She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her loving and caring nature, and her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.  She lived by the belief that it was better to give than to receive.  Most of all, Kathy was devoted to her husband, family and friends.
