Born Oct 12 1861, Jackson County, Alabama.2,3  William shown age 8 in the 1870 census, Jackson County, Alabama.6  

He married Harriet C. Garner5,9 [Harrett C. Garner10,11, Hettie C. Garner3, Margaret C. Garner8], Apr 5 18825,9, Jackson County, Alabama5,9.  William and Harriet were married by S.G. Grimmitt, Justice of the Peace8,11 (marriage book page 120),8 the marriage occuring at the home of Harriet's stepfather, George Reed.11  Witnesses were S.G. Grimmitt, J.P. and an unidentified William H. Henshaw.11  Although the marriage license shows her name as "Harrett",11 her name was correctly Harriet12 (one marriage record abstract even mis-read her name from the record book and indexed her, incorrectly, as Margaret C. Garner).8  

Harriet was born Feb 13 18662, Tennessee2 [Alabama3].  

William and family were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 5 1900), Wynnewood, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory (now Garvin County, Oklahoma):3

Hinshaw, John H., son, age 11, born Feb 1889 in Texas; parents born in Alabama; attended school.
Hinshaw, Richard H., son, age 8, born July 1891 in Texas; parents born in Alabama; attended school 6 months.
Hinshaw, George H., son, age 6, born July 1893 in Texas; parents born in Alabama.
Hinshaw, Ethel V., daughter, age 6, born Apr 1894 in Alabama; parents born in Alabama.

William Alexander Hinshaw died Mar 22 1904, Oklahoma (Indian Territory); buried Erin Springs Cemetery, Garvin County, Oklahoma.2,5  

Harriet died Apr 9 1904, Oklahoma (Indian Territory); buried Erin Springs Cemetery, Garvin County, Oklahoma.2  

William and Harriet's orphaned daughters Ethel and Esther lived with (and apparently were raised by) William's sister Mary.13
