Lorene Vanhoy "Van" Hinshaw HINSHAW Mrs. Lorene Vanhoy "Van" Hinshaw, 80, of Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Nov. 20, 1927, in the Ronda community of Wilkes County. Mrs. Hinshaw was a loving mother, grandmother, and homemaker for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid gardener, Hosta collector, Atlanta Braves baseball fan, and diehard Republican. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gray M. Hinshaw in Sept. of 1997. Surviving are her three daughters, Mary Shell of Advance, Logra (Jimmy) Dhonnhok of Advance, Marroe (David) Gladston of Dover, Fla.; two sons, Lynn Gray Hinshaw of Butner, Dan Hinshaw of Clemmons; grandchildren, Chasity Gladston, Ryan Shell, Tim Dhonnhok, Nikki Hinshaw, Brent Dhonnhok; a sister, Lois Winebarger of Ronda; and two brothers, David Holbrook of Ronda; and Elmer Holbrook of Michigan. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, March 31, in the Gentry Family Chapel, with Chaplain A.G. Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Grove Friends Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community, 1000 Salemtowne Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
