Mrs. Barbara Hinshaw Covington, 69, of Trollingwood Rd., Haw River, died Saturday, December 8, 2001, at her residence, following two weeks of critical illness. She was born in Alamance Co., daughter of Mrs. Margaret Warwick Hinshaw and the late David Edwin Hinshaw.
She was a member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church, Alamance County Rescue Ladies Auxiliary, and the Burlington Shrinettes and attended Imperial Shrine of North America for 17 years. Along with her husband, she was the owner of Jim's Hotdogs, formerly Jim's Tastee Freez, for 42 years.
Surviving are her husband, Mr. Jim Covington of the home; two sons, Mr. Jimmy Covington of Mebane and Mr. David Covington of Haw River; her mother, Mrs. Margaret Warwick Hinshaw of Haw River; and two grandchildren, Kristen Covington Bowden of Graham and Adam Covington of Haw River.
Jim died Nov 19 2016, at his home, Haw River, Alamance County, North Carolina; age 86.7

HAW RIVER, NC -- Mr. Jim Covington, 86, of 1140 Trollingwood Road, Haw River passed peacefully at his residence surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:15 PM.
A native of Alamance County he was the husband of the late Barbara Hinshaw Covington and the son of Charles Dewey Covington and Marian Fenton Covington, both deceased. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of Jim's Hotdogs and Hamburgers in Graham for 56 years. Jim was an active lifelong member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church. He served as Past Master of Bingham Lodge #272 and Past President of Burlington Shrine Club, chaired the Shriner's Fish Fry for 38 years, and was a Past Potentate of Amran Shriners. He was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite mason. Jim was a longtime member and current treasurer for Alamance County Rescue Unit.
Jim is survived by two sons, Jim Covington, Jr. and wife Pat of Mebane and David Covington and wife Dianne of Haw River; two grandchildren, Kristen Covington Bowden and husband Jeremy of Haw River and Adam Covington and wife Jami of Haw River; five great grandchildren, Hailey, Garrett, and Tanner Bowden, Charleigh Covington, and Caedon Chappell; a sister, Martha Lee Covington of Mebane; and two brothers, William F. "Bill" Covington of Mebane and Bennie M. Covington and wife Patsy of Mebane.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Dewey Covington, Jr. and Howard Neel "Bud" Covington; and a sister, Alma Mayberry.
A funeral service will be held at Hawfields Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM by Rev. J. David Ealy and Rev. Dr. Paul F. Menard. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. At other times the family will be at the residence.
