John Hinshaw

Mary was shown in the 1830 census, living with the family of son John in Lawrence County, Indiana:⁵

Mary was shown in the 1840 census, living with the family of son John in Martin County, Indiana:⁶

Mary died May 23 1846, buried Port Williams Cemetery, Williams, Lawrence County, Indiana.²

Note that Mary/Polly, the wife of this John, has a gravestone engraved "Consort of John Hinshaw Sen." (Senior), and the first wife of son John, Elizabeth White, is buried with a gravestone engraved "Consort of John Hinshaw Jun." (Junior). Both are buried in the same cemetery.² Therefore it has been deduced that John #2327 was the son of this John and Mary/Polly Hinshaw.

There have been some genealogy trees showing this John as the same as John Hinshaw #81, who married a Mary Hastings. However that marriage didn't occur until 1808, and son John was born in 1803. John Hinshaw #81 was also married in Randolph County, North Carolina, whereas son John was reportedly born in Chatham County.
