He married Martitia Macon, Apr 14 1853, Holly Spring MM, Randolph County, North Carolina.1,8,10,12  Martitia Macon, daughter of Thomas Macon & Rosanna Moffitt, was born May 2 1830, North Carolina.3,4,5,9,10  

Note: Martitia's grandfather Gideon Macon's second wife had been Elias' aunt Rebecca Hinshaw.  

At Holly Spring MM on 11-19-1853, Elias condemned his marriage contrary to discipline.1  

At Holly Spring MM on 4-17-1858, Elias was chosen Overseer.1  

Elias and family were shown in the 1860 census (Jul 14 1860), Randolph County, North Carolina:4

At Holly Spring MM on 11-21-1863, Martitia was "received in membership".1  

At Holly Spring MM in October of 1865 this minute was recorded:13

This meeting appoints Thomas Hinshaw, David Cox, Elias Macon, Charles Cox, Levi Cox, G.W.Wright, Isaac B. Fesmire, Elias Hinshaw, Jeremiah Piggott, Sen., Neri Cox & Michael Cox to look out suitable places for schools and also to set up schools among us as thought best.

At Holly Spring MM on 4-20-1867, Elias & wife Martitia, and children Isaiah M., Jacob L., John R., Stephen F., Eli N., George F., & Abijah G. were granted certificated to Greenwood MM, Hamilton County, Indiana.1  

At Greenwood MM on 7-31-1867, Elias, wife Martitia & minor children Isaiah H., Jacob L., John R., Stephen F., Eli N., George F., & Abijah G.  were received on a certificate from Holly Spring MM, N.C. - endorsed to Westfield MM.14

Martitia Macon died Jul 27 1877.10  

He then married Elizabeth Ann Davis, May 30 1880, Hamilton County, Indiana.6,7,15,16,17  Elizabeth, daughter of Enoch Davis & Mariam Mendenhall, was born Aug 25 1843, North Carolina.16,18,19,20,21  

It appears (although not certain) that Elizabeth was a single mother, with a daughter, Ida M. Davis, born about 1867, Indiana.16,21

Elias and family finally settled in Kansas.22  

Elias Hinshaw died May 30 1893, Rose Hill, Butler County, Kansas; buried Friends Cemetery, Rose Hill, Butler County, Kansas.10,11,23  

It is unknown if Elizabeth remained in Indiana, or if she returned to Indiana from Kansas after Elias died.  Elizabeth remarried to William Haworth/Hayworth, Jul 25 1903, Hamilton County, Indiana.18,24,25,26  William Haworth had been previously married, with a son, J.C. Hayworth.18

Elizabeth died Feb 15 1921, Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana; age 77y 5m 20d.19
