Henry Hanshew1 [Henry Henshew5, Henry Henshaw6, Henrich Handschuh7].
Born Mar 14 17831,5,8, Maryland1,5,8 [Pennsylvania3,6].
Christened Sep 25 1785, Evangelical Lutheran or Lutheran Congregation Of Zion Church, Middletown, Frederick County, Maryland.7
He married Barbara Thomas.1 Barbara, daughter of Henry Thomas & Mary Abernathy, was born Nov 16 1792, Knox County, Tennessee.1,3,9
In 1809, Henry and Barbara moved to Butler County, Ohio.1 In 1816 they moved to Ripley County, Indiana.1 Again in 1820 or 1821 they moved back to Butler County, Ohio.1
Henry Hanshew and family were shown in the 1830 census, Hanover Township, Butler County, Ohio:10
Henry Hanshew household:
2 males age 10-15.
2 males age 15-20 (
John and another).
1 male age 40-50 (Henry).

Mary).
1 female age 10-15.
1 female age 30-40 (Barbara).
In 1830 they moved again to Rush County, Indiana.1

Henry and family were again shown in the 1850 census (Sep 24 1850), Rush County, Indiana:3
Henry Hanshw, age 67, born in Pennsylvania; farmer; $2000 real estate; cannot read or write.
Barbary Hanshw, age 57 [unclear], born in Tennessee; cannot read or write.
Elizabeth Hanshw, age 14, born in Indiana.
Mary A. Hanshw, age 5, born in Indiana.
Demanus [unclear] Hanshw, female, age 1, born in Indiana.
The last three children above are unidentified. It seems as though they could not have been Barbara's children (she would have been well over fifty years old when the last one was born), but it seems they also could not have been George's children, as he would have been only 12 years old when Mary A. was born. These children might have been grandchildren.12
Living next door in 1850 was son Henry Jr..13
Henry and Barbara were members of the Primitive Baptist Church.1
