Born 12-17-1818, Holly Spring MM, North Carolina.1,5,7,8

Enos' father Jacob died in 1826 when Enos was 7 years old.7

At Holly Spring MM on 2-18-1832, Enos' family was granted a certificate to White Water MM, Randolph County, Indiana.7

At Whitewater MM on 5-23-1832, mother Phebe & family were received on a certificate from Holly Spring MM, N.C.; endorsed to Cherry Grove MM.9

At Cherry Grove MM (Randolph County, Indiana) on 6-9-1832, Enos and his family were received on a certificate from Holly Spring MM, N.C., endorsed by Whitewater MM.1

At Cherry Grove MM on 4-21-1836, Enos's mother Phebe remarried to Jonathan Willis of Randolph County, Indiana, who became his stepfather.1

At the age of 19, at Cherry Grove MM (Randolph County, Indiana) on 7-18-1838, Enos was granted a certificate to White River MM (also Randolph County, Indiana)1 [apparently this certificate was granted for the intention of marrying].

At White River MM on 8-11-1838, Enos was received on a certificate from Cherry Grove MM.1

He married Jane Puckett1,5,8,10 [Jane Pickett4], 11-10-18381,5,8,10, White River MM, Indiana1,5,8,10.  Jane, daughter of Thomas Jefferson Puckett & Mary Keater2,5,11 [Thomas Puckett & Mary Taylor12], was born 10-11-18232,5,11.

At White River MM on 10-17-1838, Enos was declared at liberty to marry Jane Puckett.1  "11-10-1838 reported married".1

Enos and family were shown in the 1840 census, Washington Township, Randolph County, Indiana.13

Enos Hinshaw household:
1 male age 20-30 (Enos).
1 female under age 5 (Hannah).
1 female age 15-20 (Jane).
no slaves.
3 persons total in household.
1 person engaged in manufacturing or trade.

At Sparrow Creek MM (Randolph County, Indiana) on 4-12-1841, Jane and daughter, of Dunkirk Preparative Meeting, were granted a certificate to Cherry Grove MM ("already removed").1

At Sparrow Creek MM on 5-10-1841, Enos, Dunkirk PM, was "reported 'sueing at law, a fellow member of our society' disowned 9-13-1841".1

At Cherry Grove MM on 7-14-1841, Jane & daughter Hannah were received on a certificate from Sparrow Creek MM.1

Enos Hinshaw died 18433 [18455,12, 18464].

After Enos died, Jane remarried to Samuel N. Jones c1845.  Cherry Grove MM on 10-13-1845 recorded "Jane Jones (formerly Hinshaw), Lynn meeting, complained of for marriage contrary to discipline; Request Elk MM to treat; 6-13-1846 Elk informed she condemned her misconduct; 7-15-1846 granted certificate to Elk MM".  Elk MM on 10-18-1845 recorded "Jane Jones condemned her marriage out of unity; member Cherry Grove MM".1,7

At Elk MM on 12-19-1846, Samuel N. Jones & wife Jane were granted a certificate to Newberry MM, Ohio.7

At Cherry Grove MM on 11-13-1852, Hannah & Jacob, minor children of Jane, were granted a certificate to Back Creek MM.1

Note that it appears as though Jane left her children by Enos behind at Cherry Grove when she moved-on with her new husband to Newberry MM in Ohio.  Daughter Hannah and son Jacob were taken into the family of Enos' brother Thomas.  It is not known who took in son Elijah, although it is possible that he went to live with Enos' brother Elijah.

Jane died 8-14-1894.5
