Elizabeth and family were shown in the 1860 census (Jun 14 1860), Hawkins County, Tennessee:2
Elija Coward, age 40; occupation: "F.L." [farm laborer]; $40 personal property.
Elizabeth Coward, age 30.
Josephine Coward, age 4.
John M. Coward, age 9 months.
Catherine Henchaw, age 90, born in North Carolina; domestic; cannot read or write.
Living next door in 1860 was the family of a widow Anna Coward, age 9014 (probably Elija's widowed mother).15 Also living nearby in 1860 was the family of Rebecca Jane (Hinshaw) Walker #17033.16
Note the elderly Catherine Henchaw in the 1860 census above - it seems likely that she was probably Elizabeth's grandmother (or possibly mother).15
Elizabeth and family were shown in the 1870 census (Aug 30 1870), Hawkins County, Tennessee:3
Coward, Elijah, age 58, born in Tennessee; farmer; $900 real estate; $300 personal property; cannot write.

Coward, Elizabeth, wife, age 50 [unclear], born in North Carolina; parents born in North Carolina; keeping house.
Coward, John M., son, age 20, born in Tennessee; father born in Tennessee; mother born in North Carolina; single; works on farm.
Coward, Susan, sister, age 80, born in North Carolina; father born in South Carolina; mother born in North Carolina; single; cannot write.
Coward, Patience, sister, age 72, born in Tennessee; father born in South Carolina; mother born in North Carolina; single; cannot write.
This *might* be the same as Elizabeth Hinshaw #253415 who was born about 1828 (her brother was also married in Hawkins County, Tennessee). However... The mother of Elizabeth Hinshaw #2534 was named Roda/Rhody, not Catherine, so if the Catherine Henchaw shown in the 1860 census above was indeed this Elizabeth's mother then this Elizabeth would not be the same as Elizabeth Hinshaw #2534.
This also *might* be the same as Elizabeth Hinchey #10157.15
