He declared he was born February 1 1888 in Randolph County, Indiana, and was then residing at 109 2nd E., McCook, [Red Willow County,] Nebraska where he had a wife and two children and was a railroad brakeman employed by the C. B. & A. Railroad in McCook. He was recorded as medium height, medium build, brown eyes, dark brown hair, partly bald.5
