William and Emma were shown in the 1910 census (Apr 20-21 1910), South Main Street, Falls City, Polk County, Oregon:¹¹

On Sep 12 1918 William Ray Hinshaw, age 42, registered for the World War I draft in Polk County, Oregon.  He declared he was born Oct 9 1875, and was then residing in Falls City, Polk County, Oregon, a ship carpenter employed by Grant Smith Porter Co. of Portland.  He declared his nearest relative was Emma A. Hinshaw of Falls City.  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair.¹²  

William and Emma apparently divorced or separated.  Other spouses for Emma: Herman Harry Payment, Philip A. Johnson, William Everett Estelle.⁸  Emma died Jun 5 1939, Newport, Lincoln County, Oregon.⁸

William's obituary was published in the "Telephone Register" (McMinnville, Oregon) on Thursday, January 22, 1948:¹⁹

WILLIAM RAY HINSHAW SHERIDAN, Jan. 22 - Funeral services were held January 10 at the Dalles funeral chapel for William Ray Hinshaw, 72, who died in Dalles January 7 after a brief illness.  Interment was in the Falls City cemetery.   Hinshaw was born at Buell, west of Sheridan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Zimri Hinshaw.  He is survived by his widow, Esther; four children, William S., Gordon F., Mrs. Eileen Way and Mrs. Mary Moss all of Monmouth; two grandchildren, Larry Way and Albert Gridley; two sisters, Mrs. Mittie Dixon of Rickreall and Mrs. Alta Crowley of Monmouth and one brother, Charles Hinshaw of Summit.

Esther died Mar - 1974, buried Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens, Lewiston, Nez Perce County, Idaho.^15,16
