On Jun 5 1917 John Wm Bullis, age 21, had registered for the World War I draft in Weiser, Washington County, Idaho.  He declared he was born July 14 1895 in McMinnville, Oregon, and was then residing in Weiser, Idaho, an unemployed farm laborer, single, with no dependents and no military experience.  He was recorded as short, slender, brown eyes, brown hair.9  

John had been previously married to Blanche May Barber, Jan 8 1924, Salt Lake County, Utah.10,11  He had apparently been married before that.11

Bullis, Verna, wife, age 49, born in Oregon; completed 4 years of high school; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house.
Hinshaw, Havila, father-in-law, age 75, born in Oregon; completed 8th grade; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house; single.

On Apr 29 1942 John William Bullis, age 46, registered for the World War II draft in McMinnville, Yamhill County, Oregon.  He declared he was born July 14 1895 in Troy, Kansas, and was then residing at 118 3rd St., McMinnville; self-employed at 202 Davis St., McMinnville.  He declared his relative/contact was Mrs. Verna Bullis.  He was recorded as 5'5" tall, 176 lbs., hazel eyes, brown hair, ruddy complexion, and "scar on nose" and "tattoo".12  

In 1968 Verna was still living in/near Mcminnville, Yamhill County, Oregon.7
