William Henry Hanshew died May 29 1959, Madison State Hospital, Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana; age 89.7  

William's obituary was published in the "Rushville Republican" (Rushville, Indiana) on Monday, June 1, 1959:7

Funeral Services for William Henry Hanshew, 89, who died Friday at Madison State Hospital, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wyatt Moore Memorial with Rev. Wallace Gardner officiating.  Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery.  

He was born in Rush County on June 5, 1869 and spent much of his life in this community.  Mr. Hanshew was a member of the Baptist Church at Summitville.  

His wife, Mrs. Mary Brambel Hanshew, preceded him in death.  

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Lavina Ralston of Rush County, Mrs. Pearl Cathey of Westport, Mrs. Alta Green near Milroy, Mrs. Ruth Moody of Greenfield and Mrs. Cecil Newbold of Rushville, 34 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.  

Before he entered the hospital Mr. Hanshew had been living at the Newbold home.  Friends may call at the memorial at any time.
