Tommy was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 21 1900), rooming in the household of an Alvin & Louezer Patterson, 36 Vine Street, Proximity, Guilford County, North Carolina:¹⁶

He married Lillian F. Dorsett^3,15,22 [Lillie Dorsett¹], Dec 5 1900^3,15,22, at the bride's parents' home, Guilford County, North Carolina^3,15,22.  Lillian, daughter of William Henry Dorsett & Emily Jane Macon, was born Mar - 1884, North Carolina.^1,2,21,22  

Lillian died 1901, Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina.¹  Lillie died in childbirth of son Thomas.¹  

Tommy was shown in the 1903 city directory of Greensboro, North Carolina:²³

He then married Texie Mae Lail, Nov 13 1904, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.^1,7,9,10,24  Texie, daughter of Levi Franklin Lail & Sarah Huldah Sigmon, was born May 27 1885, Burke County, North Carolina.^{5,6,10,15,17,20,25,26,27}  

Tommy was shown in the 1910 census (Apr 25 1910), living in the household of sister Beulah at 366 E. Davis St., Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina:¹⁸

On Sep 12 1918 William Thomas Hinshaw, age 37, registered for the World War I draft in Alamance County, North Carolina.  He declared he was born Jan 1st 1881, and was then residing in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina.  He declared his nearest relative was Texie May Hinshaw of Burlington.  He was recorded as medium height, slender, dark hair.¹⁹
