Born 9-10-1875, Holly Spring, North Carolina.1,2,3,4

Cyrus was named after his uncle Cyrus Barker.5

Cyrus N. Hinshaw died Sep 7 1889, buried Holly Spring Cemetery, 5 miles south of Ramseur, Randolph County, North Carolina.4,6

Cyrus was never particularly strong.  In the summer of 1889 he contracted typhoid fever.  He died after a lingering illness.5

When the grave for Cyrus was dug in the Holly Spring a vein of white quartz was encountered.  The workmen reported later that the white quartz contained so much gold that it seemed prudent to cover it with red clay.5
