Cyrus N. Hinshaw died Sep 7 1889, buried Holly Spring Cemetery, 5 miles south of Ramseur, Randolph County, North Carolina.4,6
Cyrus was never particularly strong. In the summer of 1889 he contracted typhoid fever. He died after a lingering illness.5
When the grave for Cyrus was dug in the Holly Spring a vein of white quartz was encountered. The workmen reported later that the white quartz contained so much gold that it seemed prudent to cover it with red clay.5
