During the Civil War Albert served as a private in Company I, 55th Alabama Volunteer Infantry.11,14,15 He enlisted on Nov 29 1862 at Bellefonte, Alabama15,16 (Scottsboro, Alabama).11 This was the same date and place where Newton Hinshaw also enlisted in the same unit.15 Albert served until he beacme sick and was discharged from the hospital by the Board of Physicians at Montgomery, Alabama in 1865.11,16 Albert later filed for a pension in Jackson County, Alabama.14
