Lucy died Feb 5 1935, at her home, east of Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas County, Ohio; buried Holcomb/Hanshaw Cemetery, behind the Holcomb farm, on Hansford Fork Rd., Clay County, West Virginia.5,15  

Lucy's death was noted in "The Coshocton Tribune" (Coshocton, Ohio) on Tuesday, Feb 5 1935:5

MRS. SMITH HANSHAW

Mrs. Smith Hanshaw, 56, died at 8 a. m. today at her home six miles east of Newcomerstown from a short illness of lobar pneumonia.  She was born Jan. 12, 1879, near Clay, W. Va., a daughter of Artilis and Mary Barney.  

Surviving are her husband, five daughter, [sic] Mrs. Pearl Davis and Mrs. Etta Butcher, Clay, W. Va., Mrs. Gwendolyn Davis, Gilmore; Misses Edith and Edna Hanshaw of the home; three sons, Lonnie, Brooks and Paul of the home.  

The body will be taken to Clay, W. Va., Wednesday by Jones and Lydick.  Burial will be in Clay cemetery.

In 1936-1938 Frances was living in Valley Fork, Clay County, West Virginia.13,14  

Frances Smith Hanshaw died Dec 1 193814,20 [Dec 1 19392,15], O'dell residence, Ovapa, Clay County, West Virginia14,20; age 74y 7m 16d14,20.  Medical: Frances died from a heart attack.14  

Lucy is buried with Frances in the Holcomb/Hanshaw Cemetery.17,20
