Born Apr 29 1885, Chatham County, North Carolina.1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10  

James registered for the WWI draft in Ada County, Idaho.11  

He married Augusta Frances Hargrove, Nov 28 1907, Chatham County, North Carolina.1,5,6,12  Augusta, daughter of John J. + Martha E. Hargrove, was born Jun 5 1887, Chatham County, North Carolina.1,2,3,6,13,14  

Note that James' unclee, Balaam Freeman Hinshaw married Sarah Elizabeth Hargrove, daughter of Isaac Jackson Hargrove & Arabella "Milly" Johnson (relationship unknown).  

James worked for the Union Pacific Railroad his whole working life.  He was a section foreman and so the family lived in a lot of little towns all over southwestern Idaho and eastern Oregon.1

James Ezra Hinshaw registered for the World War I draft in Boise, Ada County, Idaho.  He declared he was born April 29 1885, and was then residing in Barber, Ada County, Idaho, employed as a laborer.  He declared his nearest relative was his wife, Augusta Florence [sic] Hinshaw of Barber, Idaho.  He was recorded as medium height, stout, blue eyes, black hair.7

On Apr 27 1942 James Ezra Hinshaw, age 57, registered for the World War II draft in Twin Falls, Idaho.  He declared he was born Apr 29 1885 in Chatham County, North Carolina, and was then residing at "Railroad west of Shoshone", Twin Falls, employed by the Union Pacific RR Co. of Twin Falls.  He declared his relative/contact was Mrs. Doris (Wm) Garnett, 1001 Shoshone St. N, Twin Falls.  He was recorded as 5' 11.5" tall, 190 lbs., blue eyes, gray hair, dark brown complexion, and "scar under side left wrist".8
