She married William Mitchell Newlin6,7,8 [Mitchell Newlin4], Jul 7 18546,7,8, Parke County, Indiana6,7,8.  William, son of Nathan Newlin & Sarah Hockett, was born Mar 1 1833, Indiana.3,4,5,8,9  William was the nephew of John Newlin who married Louisa's half-sister Ruth.10

On 10-6-1853 Poplar Grove Preparative Meeting of Women Friends (Park County, Indiana) recorded:13

This meeting complains of Louisa J Hinshaw for attending two marriages contrary to discipline and for neglecting the attendance of our religious meeting does not observe plainness in dress and address The clerk is directed to forward them to the monthly meeting.
At Bloomfield MM on 12-7-1853, Louisa Jane Hinshaw was disowned for marrying (or attending a marriage) contrary to discipline and for "neglected attendence of meeting".2  

On 3-8-1854 Bloomfield MM recorded:13

The committee continued at last meeting to meet Loisa Jane Hinshaw report that they have had another opportunity with her that her mind has undergone another change since last report and that they think she is not in suitable disposition of mind to condemn her deviation and the meeting feels now prepared to issue a testimony against her which has been read approved and signed and forwarded to womens meeting for further care and is as follows
Testification

Louisa Jane Hinshaw who has had a right of membership in the society of friends has been negligent in the attendance of our religious meetings, does not observe plainness in speech and apparel, and has attended two marriages accomplished contrary to discipline, for which she has been labored with without the desired effect.  we therefore disown her from being a member with us.

On 3-2-1854 Poplar Grove Preparative Meeting of Friends (Park County, Indiana) recorded:13

this meeting complains of William M Newlin for being negligent in the attendance of our meeting for not observing plainness in dress and address and for attending two marriages accomplished contrary to discipline.
On 3-8-1854 Bloomfield MM recorded:13
Poplar Grove Preparative Meeting informs that William M Newlin has neglected the attendance of our religious meetings, has not observed plainness in dress and address, has attended a marriage and accomplished his own contrary to discipline.  Washington Hadley and Jesse Kemp are appointed to visit him on account of the charges against him and to report to next meeting their sense of the disposition of his mind.
On 5-11-1854 Bloomfield MM recorded:13
The friends appointed to prepare duplicate testimonials against Wm M Newlin report that he has been informed of this meeting's proceedings in his case, and they have produced the following, which is satisfactory and is directed to be signed.  James Newlin and Samuel Madley are appointed to offer him a copy inform him of his priviledge to an appeal and report to next meeting.
