On Jan 29 186414 at Camp Holmes, near Raleigh, North Carolina,6,14 Moses E. Hinshaw enlisted6,14 as a private in Company G, 13th Infantry Regiment, North Carolina Confererate Army.14,15  In his enlistment, Moses claimed residence in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.14  Moses was later captured.6  

He married Lovie Vestal16 [Lovey Vestal8,9,13,17, Lavina Vestal5,7,11], Mar 16 187316, Hamilton County, Indiana16.  Lovie, daughter of Alfred Vestal & Winnie Staley9,10,11,12,13,17,18, was born Apr 21 18509,10,11,12,13,17,18 [about 18541], North Carolina9,10,11,12,13,17,18.  Note that Moses' brother Alfred married Lavina's sister Minerva Vestal.

Henshaw, Lillie, wife, age 50, born Apr 1850 in North Carolina; parents born in North Carolina; married 27 years; 2 children, 2 living.
Henshaw, Adda M, daughter, age 26, born Jan 1874 in Indiana; parents born in North Carolina; single.
Henshaw, H.B., son, age 22, born in Mch 1877 Indiana; parents born in North Carolina; single; farm laborer.
Living nearby in 1900 was the family of cousin Lydia (Hinshaw) Millikan.19

Living next door in 1910 was son Harry and his wife;20 living three houses away was the family of daughter Ada;21 also living nearby were the families of cousins Seth Jacob Hinshaw22 and Lewis Edmund Hinshaw.23

Hinshaw, Lovey, wife, age 69, born in North Carolina; parents born in North Carolina.
Living next door in 1920 was the family of son Harry.24  

Moses Ephraim Hinshaw died Nov 7 1922, buried Summit Lawn Cemetery, near Noblesville, Hamilton County, Indiana.5,9,10  

Moses' obituary was published in the "Indianapolis Star" (Indianapolis, Indiana) on Monday, November 13, 192225 (see scan below).  

Widow Lovey was shown in the 1930 census (Apr 3 1930), living alone on Union Street, Westfield, Washington Township, Hamilton County, Indiana:18

Hinshaw, Lovey, head-of-household, age 79, born in North Carolina; parents born in North Carolina; widow; owned home ($1200 value); no radio in home; occupation: none.

Lovie died Apr 30 1933, buried Summit Lawn Cemetery, near Noblesville, Hamilton County, Indiana.9
