Alfred's obituary was published in the "Kansas City Star" on April 30, 1994:b

Dr. Alfred H. Hinshaw, 86, Wichita, died April 29, 1994, at a hospital in Wichita.    Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lakeview Chapel, Wichita; entombment in the Lakeview Cemetery mausoleum, Wichita.    Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.    The family suggests contributions to the University of Kansas Alumni Endowment Association.    Dr. Hinshaw was born in Alma, Kan., and lived in Lawrence, Wichita and Dallas before returning to Wichita in 1967.    He worked for the Veterans Administration, retiring in 1967.    He graduated from the University of Kansas.    He served in the Army Reserve for 30 years.    He was a veteran of World War II and was a colonel.    Survivors include his wife, Ruby Hinshaw of the home; two sons, Dennis E. Hinshaw, Dallas, and Bruce I. Hinshaw, Garland, Texas; two stepsons, A. Lee Wood-ham, Walnut Creek, Calif., and Harold Wood-ham, Anchorage, Alaska; a stepdaughter, Pat Neaves, Kansas City; two sisters, Sara Thompson, Kansas City, and Margery Walton, Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Ruby died Jan 19 2003, on her 90th birthday.k,h,209

Hinshaw, Ruby T., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003.    Visitation noon to 7 p.m. Friday, service 1 p.m. Saturday, both at Resthaven Mortuary.

She was born in Kansas City, Mo. on Jan. 19, 1913 to Arild and Eva Oleson.    She grew up in Belle Plaine, Kan.    After graduation from high school, she graduated from Kansas University School of Nursing.    She had a long career at various Veterans Hospitals.    The first being the V.A. Hospital at Leavenworth, Kan.    Upon leaving there she went to Wichita, where she worked till she retired in 1972.    Her radiant smile, sense of humor and friendly spirit will be missed by all those lives she touched.

Preceded in death by: husband, Dr. Alfred T. Hinshaw in 1994; brothers Harold Oleson and Bud Oleson.

Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Larry Neaves of Kansas City, Mo.; sons and daughter-in-law, Lee and Pat Woodham of Walnut Creek, Calif., Harold "Woody" Woodham of Wichita; stepsons, Dennis Hinshaw and wife, Linda, Bruce Hinshaw, all of Dallas; grandchildren, Todd Neaves of Kansas City, Mo., Tim Neaves of St. Louis, Mo., Scott Woodham of Anchorage, Alaska; step-grandson, Glen Bushmire and wife, Wendy; step-granddaughter, Anne of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alf and Dodie Oleson of Eudora, Bus and Donna Oleson of Arkansas City; sister-in-law, Maxine Oleson of Belle Plaine; many cousins, nieces and nephews.    In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Disabled American Veterans.
