At Marlborough MM on 9-9-1830, Benjamin's parents were granted a certificate to White Lick MM, Indiana. However, the record contains this postscript: "(did not include his son, Benjamin, Jr. [?] for whom objections appeared)". On 10-7-1830, Benjamin was disowned.9

At West Union MM on 2-13-1854, Benjamin & wife Nancy & children Sally, William, Ruth, & Anna were granted a certificate to Three Rivers MM, Iowa.5
Benjamin and family moved from Indiana to Oskaloosa, Iowa by covered wagon. In Iowa the Hinshaw house became one of two Underground Railroad stations in Oskaloosa.17
At Three Rivers MM (Iowa) on 5-3-1854, Benjamin, wife Nancy & minor children Joshua, Sally, William, Ruth, & Anna were received on a certificate from West Union MM, Indiana, dated 2-13-1854.7
Note there was no mention of son John in these records - perhaps he had died or was living independently as an adult by this time.

Benjamin Hinshaw, age 50, born in North Carolina; farmer; $6800 real estate; $2000 personal property.

At Ackworth MM on 6-25-1881, Benjamin & wife Nancy were dropped from membership as they had "joined another society".7
Benjamin Hinshaw died Apr 12 1891, buried Ackworth Cemetery, Warren County, Iowa.7,10
Benjamin's death was reported in "The Winterset Madisonian" (Winterset, Madison County, Iowa) on April 17, 1891:22
Dr. Hinshaw was again called to Indianola last week by a change for the worse in his father's condition. It proved to be the old gentleman's fatal attack, as he died soon after his son's arrival.

Nancy died Apr 24 1891, buried Ackworth Cemetery, Warren County, Iowa.7,16
Nancy's death was reported in "The Winterset Madisonian" (Winterset, Madison County, Iowa) on May 1, 1891:23,24
Dr. J. Hinshaw's mother died at her home at Indianola last week. Dr. Hinshaw was with her for a few days before her death. It will be remembered that we reported the death of his father just last week. He has the sympathy of numerous friends.

It is uncertain who might be the son "Dr. J. Hinshaw" mentioned above. It could be either son William, son John or son Joshua.
Note that there is apparently an error in the abstracts of the records of Richland MM ("The William Wade Hinshaw Index to [Iowa] Quaker Meeting Records"): The children of a different Benjamin and Nancy Hinshaw are shown associated with this Benjamin and Nancy, in error.7 The erroneous set of children, all born 1857-1874, not only conflict with other sources to the contrary (including a family history from a granddaughter), but are seemingly impossible as Nancy Carter would have been 63 years old when the last of these children was born. See: Benjamin Hinshaw #482 and Nancy McCracken. There is no evidence that Benjamin Hinshaw #375 and Nancy Carter were ever members of Richland MM.
