ARLINGTON - Virginia Eliot Hinshaw, 85, died July 18, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson.  

Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Virginia Eliot Hinshaw

ARLINGTON - Virginia Eliot Hinshaw, 85, died July 18, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson.  

She was born May 2, 1916, at Arlington, the daughter of Arthur and Mary Norris Eliot.  She graduated from Arlington High School and attended Emporia State Teachers College.  A lifetime Arlington resident, she was a homemaker and elementary school teacher for Pleasant Valley School, Arlington.  

She was a member of Untied Methodist Women and Jolly Christians, both at Arlington.  

On May 29, 1937, she married Jim Hinshaw at Osage City.  He died Feb. 18, 1975.  

Survivors include: a daughter, Beckey Hager and husband Roger; a granddaughter, Victoria Tarrant and husband Monte; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Eliot Tarrant, all of Arlington.  

She was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur "Sonny" Eliot; and two sisters, Louise Ewy and Marjorie Graber.  

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Arlington United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Wallace presiding.  

Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.  

Memorials may be made to Arlington EMS or Arlington United Methodist Church, both in care of the mortuary.
